AXEL & PATTY

Axel Orellana is a Computer Engineering student, public speaker, and youth organizer dedicated to expanding opportunity, strengthening student voice, and building community at UDC and beyond. Through his work with UDC's Office of Information Technology and Procurement Office, he gained firsthand experience supporting university operations. His nonprofit work has focused on creating internship opportunities for high school students and college dropouts. Through public speaking, student advocacy, and his involvement in the No Kings protest, Axel has used his voice to mobilize others and uplift young people in civic engagement.

Patricia Mainque — also known as "Patty" or "Jamie" — is a sophomore architecture and international student focused on improving how students access resources, opportunities, and support. Through her work with UDC's Office of Career Services, NASA-funded CAMSTAR, and CAUSES, she has helped connect students to opportunities and developed a strong understanding of the need for accessible support systems. Patty is committed to putting people first — building pathways and fostering a stronger sense of community so every student feels heard, supported, and empowered.
